WHN Solar is a renewable energy project developer based in Mozambique. We are currently developing a Solar PV Plant in Nacala, Nampula, in the northern part of Mozambique, with the support of the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), and in partnership with a number of international developers and consultants, as well as the national utility company, EDM.

EDM intends to increase the share of renewable energy in the country by up to 20% over the next 25 years – this translates to approximately 1200 MW of power generation. Our government hopes to provide universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services by 2030, according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Currently, two thirds of the population have no access to a reliable electricity supply.

Achieving these extremely ambitious goals will require the collaboration between Government, EDM, International Finance Institutions, the private sector, and others. WHN is up for the challenge!

Fortunately, our country is endowed with a mix of energy – hydro, solar, wind, natural gas and coal – well in excess of what is needed to meet its internal electricity demand for decades to come. It can provide least-cost solutions for the region.

WHN is committed to working with local Governments and utility companies, our partners and all stakeholders in the development of utility-scale, grid-connected renewable energy projects across Mozambique and Southern Africa. We plan to develop projects based on a diversified energy matrix and location, whilst in turn acting to generate sound financial returns for our shareholders and investors.

WHN’s shareholders have a portfolio of investments in energy, mineral resources, logistics and oil&gas services. We believe in forming long lasting relationships with local and international partners that add value to our businesses.

Our moto “What Happens Next” reflects our constant drive to break boundaries and innovate, while at the same time standing by with our core values of accountability, transparency and collaboration.
